Funds for Student Environmental Research – Grades 9-11

Deadline: April 1, 2012

The Marjot Foundation supports environmental education at the public high school level. Each year we fund individuals or teams of high school students conducting an environmental research project. Projects may focus on any area of environmental research, and must be designed by the student applicant.

Applications will be accepted from public high school students, Grades 9– 11, for one-year projects. Total grant amount per project is $4500 ($1000 for the research student(s), $1000 for the project mentor, $500 for the School Department and $2000 for required supplies).

Marjot awardees must present their research in progress to the board at mid-ear, and must compete in a state science fair in the spring/summer.

2011 – 2012 Environmental Research Project

Goal: What do you want to do?
Rationale: Why do you want to do this work?
Site: Where will you do this work?
Methods: How will you do the work?
Planning: How long will it take to do the research?
Analysis: How will you analyze your data?
Significance: What is the value of your research project?
Mentor: This may be your science teacher, a scientist at a state or federal laboratory or a scientist at an industrial laboratory. Note that a letter of commitment from your mentor must accompany your application.
